복음의 부르심에는 후회가 없습니다

오늘 칼럼에서는 네팔 목회자 부부 세미나를 마치고 받은 은혜를 함께 나누고자 합니다.

하나님의 은혜로 24시간의 긴 여정을 거쳐 마지막 목적지인 포카라에 도착했습니다. 네팔에서 가장 아름다운 도시인 포카라로 열 여섯쌍의 목회자 부부를 초청했는데, 그들 역시 각 지역에서 비행기와 버스를 번갈아 타며 거의 하루 종일 달려왔습니다. 모두가 지쳤을 법했지만, 새로운 배움에 대한 기대가 그 피곤함을 충분히 이기게 했습니다.

이번 세미나는 디모데훈련의 세 번째 과정으로 ‘가정’을 주제로 진행되었습니다. 처음으로 부부 동반 여행을 떠난 커플부터, 일주일 전 유산의 아픔을 겪은 부부, 이혼 직전까지 갔던 목회자 부부까지 다양한 사연을 가진 이들이 모였습니다.

새벽기도로 하루를 시작하고, 8개의 주제를 다루는 동안 각자의 마음속 어둠이 드러났고 회개가 시작되었습니다. 마지막 저녁, 세족식과 함께 편지를 나누며 서로 얼싸안고 펑펑 우는 가운데 하나님께서는 놀라운 치유를 베풀어 주셨습니다.

척박한 땅에서 생계의 어려움과 목회의 한계를 안고 살아가던 이들에게 새벽기도와 안수기도는 새로운 파의 능력이 되었습니다. 모든 순서를 마치고 간증을 들으며 두 가지 확신이 마음에 자리했습니다.

첫째, 이번 세미나를 위해 투자된 재정은 그 이상의 가치가 있다는 것.

둘째, 한 목회자 부부를 살리는 것은 곧 한 교회를 살리는 것과 같다는 것이었습니다.

무엇보다 감사한 것은, 이번 세미나를 통해 ‘New Life Assembly’ 소속 모든 목회자들이 하나 되어 민족 복음화를 향한 헌신을 다시 다짐하게 되었다는 점입니다. 시차와 음식 적응에 다소 힘든 점이 있었지만, 두바이로 향하는 길에 공항에서 이 글을 쓰는 저와 아내의 마음은 참 행복합니다. 두바이에서도 역사하실 하나님을 기대합니다.

There Is No Regret in the Calling of the Gospel

In today’s column, I would like to share the grace we received after com- pleting the pastors’ couples seminar in Nepal.

By God’s grace, after a 24-hour journey, we finally arrived at our last destination, Pokhara the most beautiful city in Nepal. We had invited 16 pastoral couples to this seminar. They too traveled long distances, taking flights and buses from different regions, with some journeying almost an entire day. Although physically weary, their anticipation for new learning was enough to overcome their fatigue.

This seminar was the third course of the Timothy Training program, focus- ing on the theme of family. The participants came with diverse stories: a couple taking their very first trip together, a couple who had just suffered a miscarriage a week earlier, and even a pastoral couple who had been on the verge of divorce. Each morning began with prayer, and as we studied eight different topics, they began to uncover the darkness within their hearts and repentance followed. On the final evening, during the foot-washing ceremony and as they read letters to one another, they embraced and wept together, and the Lord poured out His marvelous healing upon them.

For pastors laboring in barren lands, burdened with financial struggles and the limits of ministry, the times of early morning prayer and the laying on of hands became a new source of breakthrough power. As we listened to their testimonies at the conclusion of the seminar, two convictions deeply struck my heart: first, that the financial investment in this seminar was worth far more than its cost, and second, that saving one pastoral couple is equivalent to saving an entire church.

Above all, I am grateful that through this seminar, every pastor belonging to ‘New Life Assembly’ was united in their renewed commitment to the evan- gelization of the nation. Though adjusting to the time difference and local food was not easy, as my wife and I now write this from the airport on our way to Dubai, our hearts are filled with joy. We eagerly await the mighty works of God that will unfold there as well.
