Why It Is Good to Read Romans Every Day
Recently, I have developed the habit of reading the Book of Romans twice every day. Today, I would like to share several reasons why I believe reading Romans daily is so beneficial.
First, Romans is a precious treasure of Scripture and the very heart of the Gospel.
Many theologians have called Romans “the heart of the Bible” because it beautifully summarizes the central truths of both the Old and New Testaments. As you read Romans, you begin to understand what the Law truly is and how it is fulfilled through God’s grace. The scattered pieces of Scripture come together, and God’s marvelous plan of salvation becomes clearer and clearer.
Second, Romans sets us free from the enemy’s condemnation.
Every day, we are engaged in an invisible spiritual battle. Satan continually reminds us of our failures and sins, whispering, “You are not good enough,” or “You are not worthy.” Those who struggle with insecurity are especially vulnerable to these accusations. But Romans clearly teaches us what sin is and how we can be set free from its power. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). This powerful declaration lifts our souls and reminds us of the grace and acceptance we have in Christ.
Third, Romans teaches us how to live as people who have received God’s grace.
Romans is not merely a book of theology. It is also a practical guide for Christian living. It teaches us how to love, how to forgive, how to live faithfully in the world, and how to serve one another within the body of Christ. As we meditate on these truths, God’s Word reshapes our thinking, and transformed thinking leads to transformed living.
Fourth, Romans brings healing to our hearts and souls.
I especially encourage you to read Romans slowly and aloud. As you meditate on God’s Word, it quiets your fears, calms your anxieties, restores your wounded heart, and strengthens your inner being. Among all its chapters, Romans 8 is truly the jewel of jewels. Read it repeatedly. Meditate on it. Memorize it. As you do, the assurance of God’s unfailing love and the joy of victory in Christ will sustain your life each day.
A reset in life begins with God’s Word.
I encourage all of you to begin reading the Book of Romans this week. Then, gather with your Life Group (Small Group) and share the joy, encouragement, and victories that God has given you through His Word.
May the Lord richly bless you as you grow deeper in His grace through the Book of Romans. With love and blessings.
