아름다운 섬김

목회를 하면서 많은 성도들이 겪는 고통과 아픔, 그리고 교회 안에서의 시험으로 인해 힘들어하는 모습을 보게 됩니다. 특히 주님을 위해 봉사하고 섬기다가 오히려 시험을 받는 경우가 적지 않습니다. 예배 중에는 우리의 자아가 비교적 드러나지 않지만, 사역이나 봉사를 하다 보면 자아가 불쑥불쑥 튀어나올 때가 있습니다. 그렇다면 우리는 어떻게 시험받지 않고 봉사할 수 있을까요? 오늘은 그 비결 몇 가지를 나누고자 합니다.

1. 나보다 남을 낫게 여기는 자세 (빌립보서 2:1)

봉사 중 갈등이 생길 때는 대개 ‘내 방법이 옳다’는 생각에서 비롯됩니다. 그러나 교회는 능력보다 화합과 평화가 우선입니다. 나보다 남을 낫게 여기는 마음을 가질 때, 서로를 존중하며 아름다운 협력이 이루어집니다.

2. 부족해도 리더의 권위를 인정하기

교회는 하나님의 통치 질서를 가장 중요하게 여깁니다. 세상에서는 리더가 부족하면 비판하거나 끌어내리지만, 교회는 서로의 부족함을 채워주며 함께 성장해 나가는 공동체입니다. 팀장이 완벽하지 않더라도 그 권위를 인정하고 협력할 때, 하나님께서 일하실 수 있는 통로가 열립니다.

3. 예배와 기도가 우선입니다

우리가 잘 아는 마르다와 마리아의 비유처럼, 일이 예배와 기도보다 앞설 수는 없습니다. 입술에서 불평과 원망이 나올 때는 두가지 경우가 많습니다.첫째, 몸이 너무 지쳐 있을 때 사람은 쉽게 짜증이 납니다. 그럴 때는 쉼이 필요합니다.둘째, 기도와 예배가부족할 때 사단은 우리의 연약한 성품을 이용하려 합니다. 그래서 주님께서도 “시험에 들지 않게 깨어 기도하라”고 말씀하신 것입니다.

4. 지치고 힘들 때는 솔직히 나누기

너무 지치고 힘들 때, 속으로만 끙끙 앓지 마시기 바랍니다. 솔직하게 팀장이나 저에게 말씀해 주시면, 함께 좋은 방향으로 나아갈 수 있도록 도와드리겠습니다.

“만일 누가 말하려면 하나님의 말씀을 하는 것 같이 하고, 누가 봉사하려면 하나님이 공급하시는 힘으로 하는 것 같이 하라. 이는 범사에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니, 그에게 영광과 권능이 세세에 무궁하도록 있느니라. 아멘.” [베드로전서 4:11]

Beautiful Service

As I continue in ministry, I often see many believers suffering from pain, trials, and even conflicts within the church. Quite often, these trials come while serving the Lord with sincere hearts. During worship, our ego may not show much, but when we begin to serve or take part in ministry, our self-centeredness can unexpectedly surface. So how can we serve without falling into temptation? Today, I would like to share a few keys to serving beautifully.

1. Consider Others Better Than Yourself (Philippians 2:1)

Conflicts in service often arise when we think, “My way is the best way.” However, the church does not prioritize ability or efficiency—it values harmony and peace above all. When we learn to regard others as better than ourselves, mutual respect grows, and true unity becomes possible.

2. Honor the Authority of Your Leader, Even When They Are Imperfect

The church places great importance on God’s divine order of authority. In the world, when a leader seems lacking, people tend to criticize or replace them. But in the church, we are called to complement one another’s weaknesses and grow together in grace. Even if a team leader is imperfect, recognizing their God-given position allows the Lord to work through our obedience and unity.

3. Worship and Prayer Must Come First

Just as in the story of Martha and Mary, our work should never come before worship and prayer. Complaints and dissatisfaction often arise for two main reasons: First, when our bodies are weary, irritation naturally follows—this means we may need rest. Second, when worship and prayer are neglected, the enemy may take advantage of our weaknesses. That is why the Lord taught us to “watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”

4. When You Are Weary, Speak Honestly

When you feel exhausted or burdened, don’t suffer in silence. Please share openly with your team leader or with me, so that we can seek God’s guidance together and move forward in a healthy direction.

“If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” [1 Peter 4:11]
