마지막 때의 신앙의 태도

지금 거실 밖에는 화창한 햇볕이 비치고 있습니다. 그러나 이 찬란한 빛 가운데서도, 지구 반대편 어딘가는 홍수와 폭우로, 어느 곳은 기근으로, 또 어느 곳은 전쟁으로 참혹한 하루를 보내고 있음을 생각하게 됩니다.

사람은 이기적이어서 나에게 아무 문제가 없으면 온 세상이 평화롭다고 착각합니다. 그러나 세상은 분명 마지막을 향해 치닫고 있습니다. 예수님은 이미 오늘의 세상을 이렇게 예고하셨습니다.

[마24:6-8] 6 난리와 난리 소문을 듣겠으나 너희는 삼가 두려워하지 말라 이런 일이 있어야 하되 아직 끝은 아니니라 7 민족이 민족을, 나라가 나라를 대적하여 일어나겠고 곳곳에 기근과 지진이 있으리니 8 이 모든 것은 재난의 시작이니라

이런 상황 앞에서 우리는 어떻게 살아야 할까요? 성경은 마지막 시대를 살아가는 여러 태도를 말씀하지만, 오늘은 베드로의 권면을 나누고자 합니다.

[벧전4:7-8] 7 만물의 마지막이 가까이 왔으니 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 근신하여 기도하라 8 무엇보다도 뜨겁게 서로 사랑할지니 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮느니라

9월의 첫 주가 시작되었습니다. 정신을 차리고 하나님 앞으로 더욱 가까이 나아갑시다. 그리고 내게 주어진 사람들을 끝까지 사랑합시다. 주님이 언제 오셔도 부끄럽지 않은 GVC 모든 성도가 되기를 간절히 기도합니다.

The Attitude of Faith in the Last Days

Right now, bright sunlight is streaming in outside my living room window. Yet even in this radiant light, I find myself thinking of those on the other side of the world enduring a harsh day: some facing floods and torrential rain, others famine, and others war.

We are, by nature, self-centered. When nothing troubles us personally, we assume the whole world is at peace. But the world is clearly rushing toward its end. Jesus himself foretold the very world we live in today:

[Matthew 24:6-8] 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Faced with all of this, how should we live? Scripture offers many attitudes for living in the last days, but today I want to share Peter's exhortation.

[1 Peter 4:7-8] 7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

The first week of September has begun. Let us stay alert and draw even closer to God. And let us love, to the very end, the people entrusted to us. I pray earnestly that every member of GVC would live in such a way that we need not be ashamed whenever the Lord returns.
