Passion for Christ

우리 교회 12월을 떠올릴 때 가장 먼저 생각나는 단어가 있다면 바로 ‘Passion for Christ’입니다. 2011년부터 시작된 이 행사는 각 목장이 하나님께 받은 은사로, 이 땅에 오신 예수님께 감사와 영광을 올려 드리는 문화 전도 축제입니다. 매년 준비할 때마다 “너무 힘들어요”, “아이디어가 없어요”라는 말도 나오지만, 막상 시작되고 나면 언제나 넘치는 은혜로 마무리되는 특별한 시간입니다.

오늘은 이 ‘Passion for Christ’가 가진 의미를 잠시 나누고자 합니다.

첫째, Passion for Christ는 교회가 하나 되는 순간입니다.

우리는 화려한 프로그램이나 퍼포먼스를 추구하는 것이 아닙니다. 각 목장이, 그리고 모든 성도들이 주님을 사랑하는 마음 한 가지로 마음과 힘을 모을 때 교회는 진정한 One Body가 됩니다. 특별히 어린아이들도 이 날을 손꼽아 기다립니다. 어린아이부터 어른까지 모두 함께 참여하는 교회 공동체의 잔치가 바로 이 행사의 의미입니다.

둘째, Passion for Christ는 전도의 축제입니다.

많은 비신자들은 ‘예수 믿는 사람들의 기쁨’을 실제로 보지 못한 채 살아갑니다. 그러나 이 날만큼은 웃음과 환호, 선물과 나눔 속에서 그리스도인의 기쁨이 자연스럽게 흘러나옵니다. 비신자들의 마음이 열리고, 복음에 대한 호기심이 생길 수 있는 절호의 기회입니다. 꼭 가족과 이웃, 친구들, 믿지 않는 분들을 초청하여 복음의 문이 열리는 자리가 되기를 소망합니다.

셋째, Passion for Christ는 우리 주 예수님께 영광을 올려 드리는 시간입니다.

축제의 중심은 우리가 아닙니다. 기획도, 아이디어도, 무대도 중요하지만 그 모든 중심에는 이 땅에 오신 아기 예수님이 계십니다. 우리가 드리는 모든 기쁨과 헌신, 찬양과 열정이 오직 예수님께 영광이 되기를 기도합니다.

Passion for Christ

When we think of December in our church, one phrase immediately comes to mind: “Passion for Christ.” Since it first began in 2011, this event has been a cultural outreach festival where each small group presents their God–given gifts to thank and honor Jesus, who came to this world for us. Every year, we say, “It’s so hard to prepare,” or “We’ve run out of ideas,” yet whenever the day comes, God pours out overwhelming grace without fail.

Today, I’d like to briefly share the meaning behind Passion for Christ.

First, Passion for Christ is a moment when the church becomes one body.

We are not pursuing fancy programs or extravagant performances. With a shared love for the Lord, each small group—and our whole congregation—comes together as one body in Christ. Even our children look forward to this day with great excitement. It is truly a joyful celebration for the entire church family, from the youngest to the oldest.

Second, Passion for Christ is an evangelistic festival.

Many non-believers have never seen the genuine joy of those who follow Jesus.

On this day, however, laughter, celebration, gifts, and fellowship overflow, allowing the joy of Christ to shine naturally. Hearts can open, and curiosity about the gospel can be stirred. I encourage you to invite your family, friends, neighbors, and those who do not yet believe, so that this event may become a beautiful doorway for the gospel.

Third, Passion for Christ is a moment to give glory to our Lord Jesus.

The center of this festival is not us. Though planning, creativity, and performances matter, at the heart of it all is the baby Jesus who came to this world. May every part of our celebration—our joy, our service, our songs, and our passion—bring glory to Jesus alone.

Lastly, I humbly ask you to pray for your senior pastor.

December is a month of planning and finalizing the ministry direction for the coming year, and I need God’s wisdom and discernment. Your prayers for me can become a blessing for your own future as well. I earnestly ask for your full prayers.
