영혼 구령은 집중과 끈기가 필요합니다

선교지를 다녀오며 느낀 것은, 영혼 구원의 과정이 지역에 따라 매우 다르다는 점입니다.

선교지에서는 간단한 전도와 짧은 방문만으로도 많은 사람들이 예수님을 영접하고 교회에 잘 정착하는 반면, 한국이나 미국 같은 세속적이고 물질주의적인 사회에서는 한 영혼이 예수님을 믿고 교회에 정착하기까지 매우 많은 영적 에너지가 필요하다는 것을 느낍니다.

영혼 구령은 단순한 일이 아니라, 천국과 지옥을 가르는 심오한 영적 전쟁입니다. 우리는 그 사실을 자주 잊고 쉽게 포기하거나 방심할 때가 많습니다. 마치 한 여인이 아이를 품고 9개월 동안 집중하는 것처럼, 영혼 구원도 그만큼의 집중과 몰입, 그리고 끈기가 필요합니다.

이를 위해 다음 세 가지 질문을 우리 자신에게 던져 봅니다:

1. 나는 정말 그 영혼을 사랑하는가?

주님은 잃어버린 영혼을 향해 눈물을 흘리셨습니다. 나에게도 그런 연민과 열정이 있는가 점검해야 합니다.

2. 그 영혼을 위한 간절한 중보기도가 있는가?

단지 교회에 데려오는 것으로 끝나지 않습니다. 한 영혼은 누군가의 지속적인 눈물의 기도를 통해 자랍니다.

3. 사랑의 헌신이 있는가?

지속적인 관심과 양육, 돌봄이 있어야 그 영혼이 예수님께 뿌리를 내리고 교회에 정착할 수 있습니다.

이번 한 주간, 잃어버린 양을 찾으시는 주님의 열정과 끈기를 다시 묵상하며, 우리 주변의 VIP(전도 대상자)를 향한 나의 사랑과 열정을 다시 점검하는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.

Winning Souls Requires Focus and Perseverance

One thing I’ve realized from mission trips is that the energy required to lead a soul to salvation differs depending on the environment. In mission fields, even a simple evangelistic drawing or a short visit often leads people to accept Jesus and settle in a church. However, in countries like Korea or the United States, where secularism, liberalism, and materialism are dominant, it takes far more spiritual energy for one soul to come to faith and become established in church.

Soul-winning is not a light task—it’s a profound spiritual battle between heaven and hell. Yet we often overlook this truth and easily give up or become indifferent. Just as a woman focuses and cares for a child in her womb for nine months, soul-winning requires similar focus, protection, and perseverance.

Let us ask ourselves three important questions:

1. Do I truly love this soul?

Jesus wept for lost souls with compassion and mercy. Do I have that same passion and tears for others?

2. Do I pray earnestly for that soul?

Bringing someone to church isn’t the end. A soul grows through someone’s persistent, tearful prayers—not just the pastor’s sermons.

3. Do I offer loving dedication?

A soul grows through love, prayer, care, and ongoing discipleship. When this is done personally within a small group (like a home cell), that soul can take root in Jesus and settle into the church.

This week, may we reflect once again on the Lord’s unyielding passion for the one lost sheep. Let’s re-examine our own passion and commitment toward the VIPs around us.
